Just as we approach the bicentennial of Nuttall’s Arkansa journey and are re-exploring his path, so too did others retrace his trail, at the centennial–100 years after. So it was that a little more than 100 years after Nuttall’s visit, Ernest Jesse Palmer, a botanist at Harvard’s Arnold Arboretum, retraced Nuttall’s path through Arkansas, commenting on Nuttall’s observations and adding his own.
