From the Choctaw Cultural Center
For centuries, the Choctaw people referred to the eastern diamondback rattlesnake as sinthullo or the supernatural snake. This was a respected animal not only for its lethality and because it gives a warning before it strikes, but also because it helped remove hungry rodents from agricultural fields. Be on the lookout for these creatures throughout the Choctaw Cultural Center!
